NAACP

Earlier today we welcomed Vice President Joe Biden to the podium to address the 103rd NAACP Convention in Houston.

And in his remarks he said something that really struck me: "This election, in my view, is a fight for the heart and soul of America."

Vice President Biden could not be more correct. The issues that make up the very fabric of America and our fight for civil rights--healthcare, equality for all, economic sustainability--will be debated in the lead up to the election. Their fates may rest in the results on November 6th.

So make sure you learn about all the candidates in the race, and register to vote so you can cast your ballot:

With the heart and soul of America at stake, Vice President Biden spoke directly to the importance of voting: "Because when you have the right to vote, you have the right to change things. And we, the president and I and Eric [Holder] and all of us, we see a future where those rights are expanded, not diminished, where racial profiling is a thing of the past. Where access to the ballot is expanded and unencumbered. Where there are no distinctions made on the basis of race or gender..."

This is what we fight for Douglas. These are the goals of our organization. Will we build on the NAACP's legacy of fighting for civil rights? Will we see a future unencumbered by inequality? Your vote in November will determine the answers to these questions.
